Foul Weather Gear

Hey, that will keep you busy for a while. I finally went to West Marine and bought a set of their store brand foulies. Pretty good stuff, and only a couple hundred as opposed to 6 or 7 hundred for some of the name brand stuff.

We do like the West house brand foulies and have bought several sets.

We also have to say that West did stand behind them too.  One set we bought had the blue liner disintegrate.  Although the foulies were several years old and past any reasonable warranty, West sold us new replacements for half price and let us keep the old ones too!

Our main problem is that they seem to stain easily and we have not found a way to get them really cleaned.  We plan to try Oxyclean soon.

You might want to make sure that Oxy does not ruin the waterproof capability of the your gear. There was some talk around here recently regarding just that.

For your C-list friends in warmer climes, rainwear meant for golfers and hikers (it breathes) is made by Frogg Toggs (check them on the web with google). They had a sail on orange jackets and pants   in the summer of 2002 and I bought an outfit for less than $40.00..
