I got an email and some pictures from the owner of a Columbia 34 MkII. He was refurbishing his rudder and when he split it apart to expose the frame he found that the rudder post was bent. The question was whether this was part of the design or did it get bent from striking an object?
I posted the pictures he sent me as well as a picture from a Columbia brochure showing how the Columbia 30 rudder was constructed. I would expect all the Tripp designs of that vintage to have the same construction.
