Who designed which Columbia model is always an interesting topic. At one we thought the boat wasn't originally a Columbia, but rather a renamed Kettenburg 32.
Recently, John Broghton - ex-Columbia employee - posted this message:
...the C32 was made from the C30 mold. It was to fill in the line until the 9.6 could be put into production. Bill Tripp designed the C30 and neither boat had anything to do with the 9.6. I will say when they introduced the 9.6 at the annual dealers meeting, a group of us good old boys, took the C32 old boat and proceeded to over take the Payne boat (all in front of the dealers) pass her, make a circle around the new 9.6, and beat her to the dock. All in front of the dealers. Man, they gave us H---. But it was worth it. Regards John B.
